Youth Transport Survey

During 2007 TDYC spearheaded the biggest youth transport survey ever to be carried out in Tendring.

Why a Youth Bus?

In recognition of the ever-growing demand to providing transportation services for children and young people, a need was identified for a dedicated Youth Bus to be launched.

The Youth Bus is the trailblazing brainchild of a collaboration of forward thinking partners who are aiming to activate the lives of our younger people through access to services and provision.

The journey

Tendring Community Transport (TCT) and Tendring District Youth Council (TDYC) embarked on a journey to drive forward the aspirations of both organisations in providing high quality and dedicated transport journeys to children and young people.

Young people have been in the driving seat throughout the project and at every cornerstone provided direction which has led to the success of the Youth Bus today!

Some of our team of talented artists create designs

and come up with ideas for the bus.

Our designer translates the artwork into a design that can be applied to the bus, and it goes off to have the livery applied.

The Youth Council and Youth Mayor

take delivery of the newly liveried bus.

All aboard

Together with our partners, funders and stakeholders the youth bus is created.

The Essex County Council Community Initiatives Fund contributed toward the cost of the new vehicle and the Youth Funds contributed toward the livery with additional donations from the Clacton-on-Sea Rotarians and the Rural Community Council for Essex.

The Youth Bus is available to hire by ringing 01255 436962. Any group providing youth activities can use the Youth Bus.

Groups use it for:

l Educational Trips
l Pre-School Outings
l Sporting Activities
l Camping Ventures

Have a safe journey

All Youth Bus drivers and escorts are enhanced CRB checked. The Youth Bus carries full public liability and relevant insurances. Please contact TCT for further information.

Around the corner

Eighty-seven community groups are currently registered to use the Youth Bus.

This tells us that more Youth Activity Buses are needed.
TCT and TDYC are in the planning stage of raising funds to purchase a Youth Technology Bus that would be fully fitted out with broadband computers.

The plan is to take technology to children and young people living in rural areas and designated areas of deprivation within our district.
