In-Focus with Stacey Cranmer - Youth Mayor

As Tendring Youth Mayor it is my job to ensure that all children and young people living in the district are being taken seriously, have the opportunity to voice their opinions and have a say on the issues that matter to them.

I was elected at the Tendring Youth Awards in front of over 500 members of the public! Since being elected I have been promoting the positive image of young people right across Tendring.

Finally I enjoy wearing the chain of office with pride and take the job of representing you very seriously.

Did you know that belonging to TDYC is friendly, fun and FREE!

Throughout 2009 we will be showcasing the talents of the TDYC members and focusing on why they decided to be part of the TDYC team.

I joined TDYC a year ago now and have since become the assistant leader of the youth council. Its something I enjoy doing and will continue to do for as long as possible. I liked the idea of joining a group of young people who were trying to change the way people and society do things.

I go to college studying law, psychology and chemistry. And in my spare time I like running, going to the gym, going out and dancing.

I recently joined TDYC, last autumn, and have already found the whole experience very enjoyable. The chance to help benefit your community with your ideas and opinions gives you a sense of accomplishment and achievement. I am extremely interested in the workings of my town and the Tendring district area as a whole and as a recently new member of TDYC I hope to benefit the council with the ideas and opinions of all my fellow students.

My hobbies and interests include music (I play a range of instruments including piano, trumpet and accordion), amateur dramatics, local politics, writing amusing songs and annoying my friend - Will. I write reviews for my school paper and I always enjoy watching a film or reading a book I also like a good game of badminton (however bad I am at it!)

I hope you enjoy the new updated website and give all your ideas to your local council representative.
Hope you get as much out of TDYC as I do!

I became involved with TDYC when I went to the logo launch with my older brother and really enjoyed it. I like the idea of doing things to benefit the young people in Tendring.

My many hobbies include dancing, gymnastics, netball, playing the clarinet and writing stories and poems.
