“I aim to make the event bigger, better and brighter every year in response to the positive contributions the young people of Tendring continue to make in our local communities.”

TDYC Launches On-Line Forum

YOUTH councillors have launched an online forum to mark their group’s fourth anniversary.

The Tendring District Youth Council (TDYC) initiative, named the V-Box, is aimed at providing youngsters in the district with a facility to make their voices heard.
Youth councillor William Harragan said: “This is a shining example of young people who are passionate about providing a voice for young people."

TDYC On The House

Members of Tendring District Youth Council (TDYC) had the rare opportunity to experience the day as budding politicians at the House of Commons, London during the two week Easter recess.

12 members of TDYC exclusively toured the Houses of both the Lords and the Commons arranged by TDYC Honorary President and local MP Douglas Carswell. The tour ended with a question time session on youth issues affecting Tendring including anti social behaviour, environment and transport.

Members had the chance to experience democracy first hand and how important Parliament is to this country. Throughout the tour members were tested on how much they knew about Parliament and its doings.

As part of a young persons role within TDYC members undertake the Membership Development Program that involves the development of skills including how to chair a meeting, write and take minutes, public speaking and visiting the House of Commons.
